Alvarez joins nation in mourning as former Sen. Ramos-Shanani passes away
The entire House of Representatives, under Speaker and Davao Del Norte 1st District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, has expressed their condolences to the family of the late former Sen. Leticia Ramos-Shahani who passed away due to a lingering illness last March 19.
“Together with the entire House of Representatives, my family and I offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late former Senator Leticia Ramos -Shahani,” the politiko said.
“With her passing, we have lost a member of an illustrious family of public servants who dedicated their lives to the service of the Filipino people that reached its zenith with the election of her brother Fidel V. Ramos as the 12th President of the Philippines,” the Davao Del Norte solon stressed.
And despite the daunting challenge of being in the shadow of her brother, Alvarez said the late senator persevered to make a name for herself as an ambassador, a key official of the United Nations, an undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, and as a senator who championed women’s rights and culture.
“Despite our deep sadness over her demise, we find solace in the fact that in her lifetime she blazed a path of excellence for other Filipina women, and for all public servants, to follow,” the Davao Del Norte solon said.
