Proposed law calling for additonal 4K honorarium to BHWs gaining ground – Lobregat
Zamboanga City 1st District Rep. Celso Lobregat is pleased to announce that his House Bill 125 or the proposed law calling for the grant of an additional P4,000 honorarium to barangay health workers (BHW) nationwide is now gaining momentum.
The politiko made this observation after noting that the House Committee on Local Government, chaired by South Cotabato 1st District Rep. Pedro Acharon, Jr., conducted a series of hearings on the proposed law last week and agreed to consolidate other similar bills that seeks to grant additional benefits to BHWs.
House Bill No. 125 is otherwise known as “An Act Authorizing the grand of compensation in the form of additional honorarium to Barangay Health Workers.”
At present, a BHW receives various incentives and benefits such as hazard pay as well as other non-monetary entitlements.
Once House Bill 125 is enacted into law, each BHW will receive a modest compensation in the form of an additional P4,000 monthly on top of the current incentives they receive per month.
The incentives are being paid by the local government units (LGUs).
“I am thankful to my co-league, Congressman Acharon, for heeding to my request to push the bill swiftly for it to reach the plenary before the Congress adjourns in its First Regular Session next week. This bill (House Bill 125) is beneficial to our BHWs,” Lobregat said.
The politiko said House Bill No. 125 also authorized the national government to provide the necessary subsidy to help the fourth, fifth and sixth class municipalities pay the honorarium of the BHWs.
