Action man! Mayor Osmeña leads cops in search of nurse’s shooter
Irked at the refusal of a judge to issue an arrest warrant, Cebu City Mayor Tomas “Tommy” Osmeña accompanied police officers to a posh subdivision in search of the son of prominent Filipino-Chinese businessman who allegedly shot a male nurse over a traffic related spat last March 19.
The search took place at a condominium in Winland Tower on Juan Osmeña Extension and a house in Maria Luisa Subdivision, in Cebu City. The suspect was identified as David Lim, Jr., an INQUIRER.NET report dated March 20 said.
David, Jr., is the nephew of Peter Lim. His father, David Sr. is the youngest of the four Lim siblings.
The eldest is Peter who gained notoriety recently after President Duterte identified a certain “Peter Lim” as among the biggest drug lords in the country.
The younger Lim was was caught on video shooting Ephraim Montalbo Nuñal, a nurse, following a traffic altercation on F. Sotto Street in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City.
Nuñal suffered gunshot wounds in the left leg and right ankle.
However, both the politiko and police failed to find the younger Lim there.
However, his parents told authorities that they are willing to cooperate on the ongoing investigation
Osmeña, on his Facebook page, said he was forced to accompany the policemen after the judge refused to issue an arrest warrant for Lim’s arrest.
“The judge has refused to issue me a warrant of arrest. I have ordered SWAT to execute the raid on David Lim’s house. I accept all legal responsibility,” the same INQUIRER.NET report disclosed.
In the same post, the politiko said he had informed President Rodrigo Duterte of the raids through a text message he sent to Secretary Christopher “Bong” Go, special assistant to the president.
