Duterte blames Sara for famished fishes in Davao. Find out why
President Rodrigo Duterte is blaming his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, on why “lapu-lapu” or grouper fish have suffered a drop in weight since he moved to Malacañang last June.
In a speech before municipal mayors Tuesday, Duterte made a tongue in cheek comment on the state of health of the lapu-lapu in Davao in which he noted that Sara had slowed down on his brutal drug war and that the groupers’ diet had suffered from the declining body count.
: “Sino sa inyo punta ng Davao? Lahat kayo? Saan kayo kumakain? Noon? At least noon? Anong favorite ninyo Yellow Fin? Iyong sweet sour lapu-lapu natikman ninyo? Ang sarap ‘no. Dapat kasi ang kinakain niyan tao,” said Duterte referring to Davao’s iconic seafood restaurant.
“ Ewan ko si Inday. Si Inday kasi medyo ano. Minsan… Mayor na ‘yun. Pumayat ‘yung lapu-lapu ngayon. [laughter] Ibig sabihin hindi pinakain ng mayor doon,” he added.
In one of his famous thrash talks during the campaign, Duterte boasted of making Manila Bay’s fishes get bloated with human flesh from his planned war on drugs.
“I do not want to commit a crime but if by chance, God will place me (in the presidency), watch out. The 1,000 (I allegedly killed) will become 100,000. That will fatten the fish in Manila Bay. I will dump their bodies there.,” Duterte said in an interview last June 2015.
In a more serious tone, Duterte urged the town mayors to take seriously their “supervisory powers” over the police ton ensure that they won’t have a “runaway” problem on law and order.
” Just give me this commitment: Droga, pati ‘yang criminality, you have to personally do it. Hindi mo madala na ibigay mo sa pulis na… Ikaw mismo, see to it that nobody is hurt, nobody is nagdudusa diyan sa kriminal,” said Duterte.
