Davao solon Nograles wary of Magdalo group’s admission that Duterte impeachment an uphill battle

Davao City 1st District Rep. Karlo Alexei Nograles said he is wary on the announcement of the Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano that having President Rodrigo Duterte impeached will be an uphill battle.

The partylist solon filed his complaint against the Chief Executive last March 16.

The former based his impeachment complaint against Duterte in connection to the killings in his war on drugs and allegations he kept secret bank accounts.

“Sinusubukan nila ang lahat baka maka tsamba. Ang problema dito, pag hindi nila nakuha ang gusto nila through supposedly legal means and processes, what then will they resort to? Yan ba ang gusto natin para sa ating bansa?” the Davao City solon, who is also the House Appropriations Committee Chair, said.

This is an obvious reference to the Magdalo partylist’s reputation as political group composed of former mutineers who planned coup attempts against former President Gloria Macapaga-Arroyo.

“The complaint lacks the proper form and substance. It does not have any proper grounds to merit an impeachment because it is based solely on conjectures, supposition, hearsay and wild imagination. Masyado nilang pinipilit ang mga alegasyon na wala naman talagang saysay o ebidensya. Sila mismo ay umaming ito ay uphill battle,” Nograles stressed.

And by conceding the fight immediately even before the first shot is fired, clearly they know they have nothing against the President, the Davao City solon pointed out.

“All they want to do is create a lot of noise and hope that all these little noises will result in a change of administration, whether legally or unconstitutionally. They are treading on a very thin line here, between what is legal and what is illegal. Kumbaga shotgun approach,” Nograles disclosed.
