Dahil sa kamaganak: DepEd suspends Iloilo chief over nepotism allegations
The Department of Education has placed its Iloilo schools division superintendent under preventive suspension over allegations she favored her own relatives.
DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones ordered Myrna Castillo suspended for 90 days pending the investigation of the nepotism charge, The Daily Guardian reported.
Castillo was accused of appointing her nephew Arman Glenn Lapor as education program specialist II, a violation of DepEd Order No. 49 series of 2006 and Section 46 No. 11 of Revised Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service.
In her Dec. 13, 2016 order, Briones said there may be prima facie case against Castillo “to warrant the filing of an administrative charge.”
A copy of the charge was furnished to the office of DepED-6 OIC Ma. Gemma Ledesma.
