Cebu City Council declares perimeter of Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño a ‘no parking zone’
To ensure the safety of all devotees, the Cebu City Council on has passed a resolution to implement a “No Parking Zone” within the perimeter of the Basilica Minore Del Sto. Niño starting January 6 to 15th.
Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, Cebu City Council committee on public order and safety chair, said the area 10 meters away from the perimeter fence of the basilica was declared a no parking zone.
This is the latest security measure adopted by city officials to ensure the safety of people attending both the religious and cultural events during the Sinulog week, which will be capped by the Sinulog Grand Parade this coming Sunday, the politiko said.
Earlier, city officials said they want to ban drones along the parade route and at the Cebu City Sports Center where some 10,000 people in the grandstand watch the different contingents in their final performance in front of judges.
Some 8,000 security personnel will be deployed in the city during the Sinulog.
They include police and military personnel and “force multipliers” such as reservist and military training cadets.
