Negros Vice Mayor Yogore cleared of graft in construction supply deal
Valladolid, Negros Occidental Vice Mayor Rommel Yogore has been cleared of graft by the Office of the Ombudsman over the alleged anomalous purchase of construction supplies back in 2010.
Apart from Yogore, the Ombudsman also absolved his co-respondents, municipal treasurer Cheryl Aguirre and treasury operations officer IV Lilian Española.
The complaint against the three stemmed from the purchase of construction supplies and materials worth P288,271.88 from JV Nieva Hardware and Construction Supply.
The complainant pointed out that JV Nieva is operated by Yogore’s brother-in-law, and that there were no Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) resolutions and documents to support the procurement of supplies and materials from the company.
However, the Ombudsman indicated in its resolution said there is no proof that the respondents gave unwarranted benefits to JV Nieve considering that the complaint showed no audit report.
